Introduction

I have been working on some website updates that will hopefully make it easier to publish blogs in the future. Part of my recent absence from posting has been from time constraints, but also from it being so tedious to publish after I have written a post. To solve this problem, I have added some functionality to my site behind the scenes.

Adding Markdown

Up until this point, I have been typing out my blog posts and then formatting them with HTML tags. Of course, this is a rather tedious task as it takes a long time to test and get the formatting correct. To make life a little easier, I added the ability to use markdown for creating blog posts. This will make the formatting much easier since I use markdown quite often for README files and Jupyter Notebooks.

As seen in my previous blog post called Welcome to My Site, I used Blazor to build my site. In order to add markdown to my site, I used a library called markdig. It was extremely easy to add to my site. I highly recommend checking it out.

Future Additions

Now that creating posts should be a bit easier with the new site updates, I am going to try to post more often. There are a lot of interesting things going on right now that I have been keeping an eye on. For example, SQL Server 2022 was announced last week at Microsoft Ignite. I am looking forward to doing a deep dive into changes that are coming with the new version of SQL Server.

Along with new blog posts, I plan on making more additions to the site. Working with this markdown library I have already found a few things I would like to customize with it such as opening links in a new tab. I also plan on adding tags to help visitors find relevant posts more easily based on topics. This likely won't be until I have a bit more content on my site, so be checking back.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you come back to visit.

I don't have a comments section yet, so feel free to send me feedback on this blog.
